I struggle with acne. It's not terrible, but there's a lot of inflammation, and clogged pores. I have combination skin, so I have to be careful about not using anything too harsh, etc. I go to school for cosmetology, so I had the opportunity of talking with a licensed esthetician.

She told me to use a soft cleanser in the morning, and a stronger cleanser in the evening. She said to find a good moisturizer, and she said to use a facial mask once a week.

I have tried expensive products such as ProActive, but gained no results. I am convinced that I can get good results from over the counter products, without spending too much money.

Any advice on a good cleanser (w/ salicylic acid), moisturizer, and face mask would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

If you're looking for a cleanser with salicylic acid try Garnier Pure Active... I also recommend that you give Olay Total Effects day and night moisturizers a try... I tried many other quite priced products and believe me these moisturizers are much better. I have a senstive combination skin and used to have some dry patches and irritations on my cheeks and an oily t-zone with clogged pores. They seem to balance my skin and they never break me out.

Sorry I forgot about the face mask... I use homemade masks. Yoghurt is amazing for irritated skin... Use it directly from the fridge and you can mix it with honey... or you can mix it with tumeric and apply it on the acne spots.

Wash with Cetaphil and a Clarisonic brush morning and night. If this is too irritating, use the brush only at night. Wipe face with pure witch hazel. Use Dr. Dennis Gross peel pads as often as you can afford them. Neutrogena All-In-One cream after witch hazel in the morning, a retinol cream instead in the evening. Clean and Clear spot control on actual zits that pop up. A clarifying clay based mask weekly. Moisturize with Cetaphil daily morning and night.
