Update on my chanel haul the other day. I used my products and at the end of the day my skin was an oily nasty mess. I brought my items back to be returned and chanel will NOT refund me for them. is this not crazy, literally everywhere else I have ever bought make up will refund. I'm a Lil upset!

That is totally crazy, my Mother used to work for Chanel at a Nordstroms department store, and employees were always to accept all returns no matter what...I remember my Mom even saying they would take product back that was all used up even. I would talk to the human resources department and complain.

Assuming you bought them from Nordstrom, Macy's, Neimans, wherever. I'm currently over the Cosmetics Department at Macy's. we don't take back completely empty product. But, it sounds like yours simply didnt work out after a couple of days. That is a different story. With a proof of purchase and the product you should have been issued a refund in the original form of payment! :)

It's probably because you opened it. I don't know of anywhere that takes back used/opened products, just like shops won't refund you on clothes if you've taken the tags off. They can't make money from it if it's been used so they probably wouldn't give you a refund.

Many, many places take back open cosmetics here in the US as long as you have the receipt and packaging. I would try a different counter or store. Or ask for a manager. If that doesn't work I'd want to speak to the actual store manager, not just the counter manager

Here in Canada as well that's why I was surprised...

When a department store does do a return/exchange on makeup and skincare items (as they should) the open product is never resold, it is marked as damaged and sent back to the manufacturer. As a matter of fact, they will do this even if the product isn't open for sanitary precautions. So for any employee to say "it's useless now" is absolutely absurd.
