Hi ladies! <3
Quick question.. I have dry/combination skin.. I do exfoliate a few times a week with a St. Ives scrub, and then moisturize, but I still have dry patches on my forehead and around my nose that my makeup will stick to.. Any tips? Should I use a more abrasive scrub to get all the dead skin off or what? Thanks in advance :)

I used to have dry patches on my cheeks and forehead! Foundation just excentuated how awful the dryness looked. When I purchased the Clarisonic, all of the ugly patches disappeared within a few weeks! So I definitely feel like deep exfoliation is key. :)

I exfoliate with the shower loofa. I exfoliate gently but for a good minute and in round motions. Use a moisturizing face wash

I use vasanti monoi magic on dry patches when I overuse acne products, just a few drops helps them go away

I would give your face a break from foundation. That's helped my dry patches on my checks and chin. Also, I stayed away from soapy products and used a facial moisturizer called "The Body Shop" and it had vitamin E in it and that really helped. Also just FYI, I read that the St. Ives exfoliator is terrible for your skin. I guess the "chunks" of exfoliator are harsh on the skin and damage the skin. Just something I read once. Xo.

Sometimes overusing exfoliants can cause dry patches. I wouldn't recommend using anything more abrasive than what you're using now. Maybe just try following up with a more compensating moisturizer? Or reapply your current moisturizer more often. Also I have dry/combo skin as well and I've had more luck keeping dry patches at bay by using chemical exfoliants rather than scrubs - you could try a cream containing AHA and see if that works for you!

I used to be on rx acne cream and wash that was harsh on my skin. I found the only thing that worked foru dry spots ( nose and forehead) was cetaphil's facial moisturizer. They have an awesome facial lotion with SPF 30 for oily skin as well that kept me from getting too oily during the summer.

You might want to use a little more moisturizer on your face. maybe twice a day.

Try a different method to exfoliate. It may also be the foundation you are using. Once I switched I don't get the dry patches of foundation.

Thanks again ladies <3 I did actually try using an exfoliating glove on my face today and I could tell a difference :) I also used a little more moisturizer.. I can't wait to try your other suggestions

Exfoliate is great, make sure you moisturize. When I was pregnant I got severe dry patches on my arms, and my doc prescribed me Cetaphil. Its healed them and I know its for face and body. My face is very dry too so I use Laura Mercier foundation primer in "hydrating". It really helps my foundation go on smoothly and evenly.
