If I have split ends and I want my hair to grow longer, is it best for me to get a haircut or will my hair still grow long with the split ends?

Everyone says "CUT YOUR SPLIT ENDS!" but I always get split ends from straightening my hair and what not and my hair still grows! If you want to get a trim you can, but it's not like you HAVE to.

Will my hair still grow as long?

Yes! Your hair grows from your scalp, I don't really see how the end of your hair effects that process, ya know? My hair never stopped growing because of split ends. And plus when I'm bored it gives me something to do, I find the split ends and split them apart. Lol.

Yeah but itll make your hair break so cutting your ends is good

You must trim it. for lack of a better phrase, split ends split. they fork out and it will break off. so yes if you don't trim it, it will be slowly breaking off and when its as long as you want that length will only be on 5 hairs bc all the rest will be split up top.

Your hair grows out of your scalp. It just keeps your hair looking healthy and the spilt ends from spreading. Has nothing to do with hair growth because the new hair grows
Out of the scalp. So your just cutting off old hair

But it's smart to get them trimmed or the spilt ends will spread and when you have long hair it'll be spilt ends and frizzy.

Your hair may grow from your scalp but if you have a ton of split ends all growing it out will do is make the ends continue splitting further up your hair. Cut it unless you want an entire head of split ends lol.

It will grow but your ends will just snap off, I just get pieces of hair and cut the split ends when I see them. I don't have a lot of them so it doesn't take long and it saves having like an inch cut off especially when most of the hair doesn't need to be cut. I find that when I have my hair cut professionally anyway that I still have a few split ends:) take care of it after you've hand it cut though so you don't have to cut it hardly. that means no heat, no rubbing your hair on the towel when its wet, no brushing when its wet, conditioning treatments weekly, hot oil treatments, no pulling it will bobbles and hair grips. hope I helped:)

I just got my hair trimmed yesterday because of split ends and it's soo much healthier.. I too am trying to grow my hair long but you just have to get rid of the split ends. I also use anti snap from redken and love it :)

Hair grows from the follicle so trims don't effect growth rate. Always trim split ends. Better yet prevent them with routine microtrims.
