If you have a Ross near you then you should check them out they have cute dresses in all different colors and styles (: I got my braidsmaid dresses there and my reception dress which was a short pink and black dress where as my wedding dress was from davids bridal.

A department store like Dillard's or Macy's would have something nice enough to get married in but not over the top or expensive

Its one of the best moments of your life, YOU have to decide what you wear no matter what we say. I've been married for 3 years and though I didnt do the big church wedding yet, we got married at the court house and I still look at my dress and still love it. you will get that feeling people say when you know its the one. and you just may cry lol mines was rented due to me being wise on my decision to not spend thousands of dollars when it wasnt even the big church event yet. SO! if any advice ia given from me is for you to rent one..go to the stores where you can rent them..we have a store here in miami called zayas ( I still remember the name, due to it being so important. thats why I'm pushing you to focus on your opinion.) see if they have a site. or just google stores in your area where you have the option to rent or buy. its yor experience. you will remember it forever. big or small. so don't follow the influence of others opinions. follow your heart on this one. you WILL know when its your dress.
