Changing to Red Hair Color.

I have a brown/blonde ombré hair color and I want to go red. I want the red to have more of a purple undertone instead of a ginger tone. Also I want to die it myself since it will be all one color... I've never colored my hair myself at home before however I'm not a stranger to color treatments!! I need advice on where to start!! Please text me suggestions!! Thank you!!

If you color over your ombre hair with red it will pick up brighter on the blonde parts of your ombre, so just a heads up. And go to sallys beauty supply to pick up your color, since you want more of a red/ violet color look for a swatch that says RV. And also you're going to want to get the roux color refresh mask in burgandy and this is a color refreshing conditioner since red hair fades so fast. My sources?
