When I went to get mine about 5months ago, I went to club tattoo in mesa arizona, they told me to use Aquaphor, its in the baby section of walmart aand target. The best thing I have ever used, especially when it gets itchy, it makes it feel so much better and mosturizes it super good! (: and plus after your tatts healed works really good on any dry areas like elbows and feet (: hope that helps. (:

Thank you! Any more tips? How long should I keep it covered?? Should I take any pain pills before I get it done? Lol.

You should only keep it covered if its bleeding rly bad. I have a 7 hr back peice and mine was never covered. air helps them heal just like a sore. my tattoo artist has also told me that unscented lotion is best on it. you shouldn't use anything that has a Vaseline feel to it because it can pull out your ink. I use a&d at night just to keep it from itching while I sleep but that's against his advise. tattoo artists have different opinions on what to put on them and what not to though.

And if you have any pain tolerance you shouldn't need a pain pill. thats all part of the tattoo experience to feel it.

Well hun, the tattoo artist will tell you, mine that I got I had to keep it covered for an hour then take it off, and wash with mild soap and put the aquaphor on, they will tell you everything you need to know. Most important thing is, it will really itch but don't scratch cause it'll rip the ink right out of your skin. When it starts to scab and itch, put the aquaphor on it'll stop the itching. They advise not to take any pain killers like ibuprofen and aspirin cause it thins the blood and you'll bleed a lot more! haha no worried you'll be good. Its really about where your gettin tatted, I got mine on my right shoulder on my back. What and where are you thinkin about getting? Most important though is ask questions and listen to whatever they tell you on aftercare, because they all use different ink and such. As far as pain goes, be careful where your getting it, I know the top of the foot and hips are quite sensitive believe me quite painful there.

The best thing you can do is just let air dry and wash it while showering, don't put anything on it except unscented lotion after a day. Let the ink sink in first.

Ahhh, maybe be a lil painful, no I think you should be good, just remember when that needle hits your skin, BREATHE! haha cause when I got mine I forgot I was holding my breath and I felt really faint, like I was going to pass out, sometimes whenn that happens you need a bit of sugar, they gave me a jolly rancher it helped cause the sugar gets you goin (: I think thats all! good luck girl, trust me after this one you'll want a bunch more. As far as pain goes it sort of feels like a cat scratch, have you ever been scratched by a cat? well if you have you know after they scratch you it kinda burns? thats what it felt like to me, then after its all done it kinda feels like a sunburn not too bad, just remember to breathe! haha goodluck love. (: what are you getting?

If you go out in the sun once it's healed, USE SUNSCREEN. I know people that spend a hundred dollars on a tattoo, start tanning again once it heals, and after having it for a year it looks like a three year old tattoo *shakes head*

Got mine on my ribs, hurt big time! 2 and a half hours later, my mind had had enough and my body had had enough...having said got my tattoo in one of the worst places and it's pretty big. My advice: use the antiseptic lotion heaps :) always make sure that it doesn't try out.
