My hair is the first one, highlights all in my hair. I really want my hair to be ombré exactly as shown on the right. Would I have to die my hair back to a black & re-bleach my hair for the ombré effect on the tips?

If you want it to look exactly like the picture, yes you would want to start out with a darker hair color all over.

You'd have to slowly strip the colors.

Just try dye top dark leave bottom as is.
