As a result of my earlier post regarding the necessity of lip liner, I am now cruising for a new purchase...

Jenni L. suggested using liner that matches my natural lip color, and I'm super interested in these NARS Velvet Matt Lip Pencils, but I can't tell if any of them would really match?

I am starting to think I don't have "the eye for it" LOL... Plus I'm looking at this photo and my mouth looks like my dad's mouth so suddenly I am personally confirming my parentage. CREEPY!

If I were to buy Roman Holiday (pinkish and I think it matches my natural lip color), it won't look weird under my favorite Kat Von D FTW lip color?

I bought a NARS velvet lip pencil in the color Dragon Girl--it's gorgeous, one of my absolute favorites and it's definitely long wear. But those velvet finish pencils are really meant to be warn solo, I think. I'd suggest using a clear lip liner to keep your FTW lip color from bleeding. I use a Mary Kay clear liner, but clear is also available through urban decay and maybelline

I just saw the last post you were referring to in this one. It seems that many of those ladies use their liner as more of a primer so the color adheres. While that works, I find it tedious to fill in my lips with a thin pencil. Many makeup brands, both high end and drug store carry lip primer for that purpose. I use liner for the purpose of better defining my lips and keeping my color from bleeding outside the edges of my lips. I think liner is especially important for when you're wearing dark or bold colors

Yeah after I read more of the info about those velvet matte pencils I thought, "yeah this is more of a solo product"... Hmm. Lip primer? Really? Wow I'm learning new things all day every day!! LOL thanks!

I wear the shade "cruella" from the line and I just apply a light touch of Chapstick before application that acts as a primer instead of using a lip liner. It actually keeps my lips from drying out and extends the wear time of the shade.
