I had the same problem, couldn't do it at all!! The I watched a tutorial that used a fan brush rather than a sponge, amazing!! Definitely the best way, this was the result x

I tried it for the first time last night :) the left hand was really messy but by the time I'd finished my right hand I was starting to get the hang of it! I just used a makeup sponge... never heard of using a fan brush, so may try that next time.

I did it for the first tine last week I used a makeup sponge buttt I hate that it doesn't give a smooth look it looks like air bubbles.

I use acrylic colors for ombre effect. in this picture I have used 4 shades of blue in background but due to other designs you won't be able to see that. my secret is don't take too much paint in the sponge and dab very lightly do not force it. hope it will be helpful :)
