If you need something striking, you need more. I would do a grey smokey eye with either a natural or rose-colored lip. Hope this helped :)

I would go with a gold liner if that's the look you want :). My personal fav is UD 24/7 liquid liner in El Dorado. It is waterproof, you can make a feminine yet bold cat eye, and it will be striking without being "trashy". You don't look stupid btw, just the gold lashes look a bit odd <3.

What mascara are you using? I've never seen a colored mascara that pigmented! And personally I think it looks cool, I don't see how it could be trashy.

The gold mascara really isn't my cup of tea. The only time I think I'd ever wear it would be to a Mardi Gras party, with some purple or green eyeshadow.

Its not a mascara its actually urban decays 24/7 eyeliner I just brushed along my lashes. it was a very last minute addition, which is why the whole things isn't very finalized
