I have black hair and brown roots and no money at my disposal so colour is out if the question any ideas apart from mascara as to how I could hide them??

Ponytail and a thick head band! I really would not suggest putting mascara on your hair!

Walgreen has dye on sale for less than four dollars.

DO NOT use black box color or any box color! You can buy professional hair color at sallys beauty supply for under $10 for everything you need, or else there are temporary root touch up sticks and those are about $7!
