African black soap, you can find it on Amazon and it works wonderfully. I wash my face with it every night before bed but I always moisturize after.

Toothpaste!! Just put it on your problem spots when you go to bed and wash off with lukewarm water in the morning. It might take a few days for it to go away fully but I promise it actually works :)

I heard that toothpaste doesn't work since it will increase inflammation...and I've even tried it and it hasn't worked, which proves that everyone is different :)
My acne is more hormonal...the way you can identify it is the location...if you have really painful cystic acne on your chin and jawline (and almost no where else) you may want to look into balancing your hormones which may involve changing your diet. Dairy and soy products are known to affect hormonal imbalances...some people are more sensitive to one over the other, or if you're lucky like me, you have to avoid both.
If you've tried all the remedies out there, and by try I mean giving it a good month or two of religious use, you should consult with a dermatologist or an ob/gyn to see if birth control is an option...I'll warn you though: it made me feel a little crazy. I just deal with the acne than feel crazy all the time.
Hope my long rambling helps!! I hope you consider the hormone issue though!!
