My hair never holds a curl with out using a whole can of hairspray and holding the curling iron for about 50 seconds. Any ideas on how to curl my hair with out damaging it horribly?

Try setting your curls after you curl them. Pin them back up into little pin curls as soon as you let each one out of the curling iron. Have you tried using a little hair spray before you curl? It might help :) you could also try sleeping in rollers, those can make even the straightest hair super curly.

Curl it in smaller section roll them up while its hot and secure it to your head with a bobby pin, do it all around your head and let them cool for about 15 minutes and then unwrap them and just shake your hand through your hair til you get the look you desired. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube :)
