I've had my hair highlighted a couple of times. Originally my hair was chocolate brown. I've been using a purple shampoo because I've heard that helps but it hasn't been helping much! (It's LUSH's Daddy-O). Do you have any suggestions to get it lighter without damaging my hair? its sort of like this but with more dark brown in..

Put a bit of peroxide in your shampoo. Over a few washes it will strip some color out of your hair. I'd do about 1/4 peroxide to 3/4 shampoo.

Just make sure you use and extra nourishing conditioner for dry hair as the peroxide can dry it a bit.

Purple shampoo really does help! In the UK there is a brand called Provoke which makes a 'twice a week brightening shampoo' and conditioning treatment, I don't remember the name. If you used both of these each time you washed your hair you would definitely see a difference.  :)

I've already had it bleached about 3 times and just bought Paul Mitchell shampoo from the hairdressers and the John frieda colour renew conditioner if that's any good??:)
