How do I do these curls? I feel like the haircut is a big deal when trying to curl your hair to look like hers :(

Well for this look you would have to have long hair. On her they most likely used a wand for this look, about and inch to inch and a half thick. :)

They both have extensions but to achieve the look you can:
-curl your hair with a curling wand or wrap it around the curling iron in medium sections
-let it cool. Don't touch it for 5 mins.
-To get that volume: flip your hair over, run your fingers through it from the nape, hairspray it if needed, flip your hair back over.

Definitely the haircut is the big portion of this look..less finely layered your hair is the more natural the curls might look.

A layered haircut would help but I personally can do that look with my one length haircut and extensions. A curling wand, a layered haircut, extensions if needed, and for volume I like "bigsexyhair: what a tease backcomb in a bottle" It gives you the lift without having to actually tease your hair. Just keep in mind no matter what your hair will never look exactly like someone else's.
