Depends on your age. I used that same backpack my Freshman year of high school. I found it too big, a lot of pocket were very empty and it made me look more childish than I was hoping to be. If you are younger than a Freshman in High School, if not its too big for school..

They are fine. Having a plain backpack isn't childish at all. I use the same one and I am a junior at a professionally oriented university (formerly at a nationally ranked public university). Having pockets is useful because you can keep your supplies organized and easy to access. I was an AP student through all of high school so we never had an empty backpack. ;)
