Ppl are entitled to their opinions Katya. I actually feel that a less established makeup brand should start with lower prices and and as they establish a reputation and there is a greater demand for tgeir products then they can raise the price tag.

Katya H. my husband deals with a lot of startup makeup lines and there is no such thing as price dropping with cosmetics regardless of how many units she sells. And unfortunately her past adventures speak volumes to consumers. We remember negative outcomes regardless if she's following her dreams or not. I don't think anyone is negatively judging her here...just merely pointing out her track record.

I am considering her foundation line, and it is L'Oreal luxe (think Urban Decay) not L'Oreal Paris (though there isn't too much of a formulaic difference) The Life Palettes seem to take out the guess work as to what would be best for any event. Not something I need but would be helpful to many who struggle with that sort of thing.

Right on Ciara H!! Business Finance 101 preaches the exact thing!! Start out at a lower price point THEN rise up with increased popularity.

Neither Mally nor NARS did that. They are targeting a certain demographic, and that isn't many of us.

Come to think of it, neither did Hourglass.

What demographic are tgey targeting Melanie?

Even Neaploen Perdis does private label and charges premium for it. Makeup Marketing rarely makes sense, because exclusively factors in, BIG TIME.

Honestly? People with high disposable income, less makeup experience and high amounts of vanity.

Oh no thats definitely not me lol!

It's not crap quality, but it's marketed to the YouTube teenage to college market. Someone who still has someone else paying their way. Someone who's parents drop 75 dollars on an eyeshadow and won't bat their eye at an entire palette for that same amount.

Yeah... $75.00! and I'm sure that translates to $85.00 here in Canada.. Lol No way... not near special enough!

Melanie...yes marketing does a play a huge role but when looking at NARS and Mally (the lines you listed) they developed a cult following over the stars they worked on so they created a niche for themselves and had serious financial backing from investors. Same with Perdis. I don't know the background of Hourglass (one my personal faves). But definitely right on about the demographic element. @Ciara...girl...I hated my finance class but my college degree is paying off.lol.

Who is this and what's her connection to Loreal.

Aug 17, 2013

She's got a captive audience. I don't think this is going to flop.

Looks cheap but the price isn't

@Ciara I never said that people weren't entitled to their opinion, I was just stating my own opinion. @Shelley Okay, so I really didn't know that about the prices, but on the website there are affordable things, but as for her past I still think she was just trying to do what she loves whether she failed or not.

I agree that it looks cheap (reminds me of the elf brand) but from looking at the swatches looks like good color payoff. Considering you're getting 36 refillable shades in a Life pallette I can see why it's $75. BUT- I agree with a new makeup line the price was a drawback, I'd expect for it to be like $50 or something.. Michelle Phan is quite established however, like Shelley mentioned with her track record I'm sure many won't forget some of her past business mistakes.

Personally I wouldn't buy anything from the makeup line.
