Every time I out foundation on I feel like I look really cakey and gross so I avoid foundation. I want to start using it again because I have a bunch of foundations I would like to use! Any ideas?

Try putting on a thick layer of moisturizer before your foundation, or mixing it with the foundation (which will give you a bit less coverage) this for me always makes my foundation feel much lighter and gives you a dewier finish :) Set with powder to keep it from sliding. Good luck :)

Try different ways of applying your foundation, and look for foundations that suit your skin type and needs.
If you use your fingers, switch it up a bit and use a brush or sponge, and if you use a brush, switch to sponge or fingers, and so on.
If you have dry skin, try a creme or mousse foundation, or anything with a creamy moisturising feel.
Normal skin, which is basically your never too dry or too oily either all around or in certain spots, Your skin just feels like.. skin, Any type would work for you, it depends on your preference and method of application.
Oily skin, stick to liquids and certain cream types, and always use powder to avoid the dreaded oil-meltdown. Also keep some oil blotting sheets handy, you'll thank me later.
And finally, the Combination skin. It all depends where you get oily and where you get dry, It's full of just trial and error here. Try out different things, and hope for the best. Apply powder where you get oily the most, not all over though. Dry skin and powder, with the exception of loose and mineral powders, DO. NOT. MIX. It makes the face cakrey from the dryness of your skin, and it's horrible.
I hope I could help!

Maybelline dream smooth mousse :) I always recommend it in any foundation posts because it goes on very light & it gives you coverage without making your face look to cakey. I'm in love with it & it's like 8 bucks which is a pretty good deal!

Try a primer, I find some of my foundations look better when I apply primer before them. Also, the beauty blender is amazing for application!

Use a damp sponge or beautyblender! It'll blend in the product better and makes it look airbrushed and even. :)
