Does anyone here ever use concealer/foundation to highlight and contour? I see videos of professional artists doing it all the time but have never been ballsy enough to buy products and try it out.
I've tried talking to artists at makeup counters, MAC, and Sephora, but none of them were very familiar with the technique.
I'm looking to slim my face and create the illusion of a jaw and cheekbones (obviously makeup isn't magic but it's fun to try and see what happens!) so I'm wondering if this technique of using concealers or foundations to contour would help it be more defined.
Any ideas or info? =]

It's just like using a shade or two darker foundation where you want to contour and a shade or two lighter foundation where you want to highlight. Then put your correct foundation shade over everything. It looks really natural. I'm a professional makeup artist

I do all the time. I use a concealer 2 shades lighter under my eyes, bridge of my nose, cupids bow & chin to highlight. I basically do the same with a darker concealer in places I want to contour. I blend it all out using my beauty blender or small stippling brush from ELF. I then set my highlighted areas with Ben Nye's Banana Powder & my contour with my regular contour powder. Finally I go over my cheekbones & bridge of my nose with ELF's Gotta Glow.

As Rachel said, using shades lighter and darker than your skin tone are good to use. It's intimidating at first, but you'll get the hang of it! I think it's natural and gorgeous looking, if done right. Good luck!

But some brands do have liquid bronzers if you don't want to buy a concealer for it :)

I came across a MAC Studio Fix compact floating around my house in a shade way too dark for me. I'm assuming it's my sister's, but instead of sending it back to her, I tried contouring with it and I just love it! I always had a hard time finding matte, non-orangey, non-shimmery bronzers and I heard of contouring and highlighting with alternate shades of foundation-I just never tried it. Its been a couple of weeks since then and I'm such a happy camper, using a slightly darker foundation to contour with =)
