Hi. I'm going to start keeping my nail polished as a part of my college transformation.. But I don't want them done professionally.. How can I always keep them polished without having the polish to chip. Will base/top coats really work??

My holy grail product that I put over every nailpolish is Sally Hansen hard as nails in invisible I can honestly say it doesn't chip for about a week and I put it over forever twenty one nailpolishes and the didn't chip for a week it's amazing in my opinion better then high end nailpolishes.

Yep, the base will help protect your natural nail and help make the colour stick. when you apply a top coat make sure you apply right to the ends, paying special attention to the corners since thats where it usually chips easy. also when you're hand are in water either try and wear gloves or make sure you dry your nails afterwards.

Use a base coat! I didn't and my nails started turning weird colors. Lol.

I would recommend Seche Vite for a top coat and Seche Clear for a base coat :)
