I used to do that and my mom got mad because I was picking off nail polish from a nail salon lol oops. So she made me wear a rubber band around my wrist and make me snap myself every time I started picking at it.

Lol I know its like bitting nails. I do it too but try not putting on a thick layer. When its super your more tempted to start peeling and picking.

Try a good top coat and base coat actually. I use Orly Bonder base coat till tacky. Color. And then the Seche vite top coat or Diamond Dry from Sally or Ulta.
