Sorry but I have posted this 5 times an have gotten no responses.
It's about cross country(:
Cross country try outs are in about a week and I want to be good.
I'm going to be a freshman in highschool and my 5k time is about 22-23 minutes. If I pushed myself really hard I may be able to get to 21 minutes...
But anyways! Do y'all have any eating tips, breathing and running tips, and tips at all to help me do good during the try outs and races!
Also, since my practice is after school and I wear makeup to school, how should I do that? Lol like should I bring makeup remover or what? Thank ya 😘

Don't wear makeup while your exercise! Use makeup remover wipes to remove your makeup without irritating your skin! I use the Walgreens brand, but the Simple kind are good too! I use them everyday and they work great. I have even heard of girls using baby wipes to remove makeup! :) good luck!!

I'm a varsity cross country runner. My advice is to push yourself one step further in your training. Find a good breathing pattern an settle into it. Hydrate more than you think and eat well; try lowering your sodium and sugar intake. Focus on your pain and use it as fuel-ignoring it doesn't help. Don't ignore it if something doesn't feel right-injuries are common so always tell a coach, even if its just that you've been sore for a week straight. Remember the power of your mind-that's the greatest strength or weakness you can have. Just remember that long distance running is mental and physical and at some point you will feel like quitting-keep with it. If you train eat hydrate and think positively you will do great! Keep pushing to a new pr and work through the plateaus! :)

Oh and as for makeup it depends on your skin and sweat and all that. I personally leave my makeup because I don't have time to remove my mascara or anything an it doesn't bother me; you'll just have to see what works for you!

Sorry, last post!
Anyway and if you want to get faster and feel better a large part of running is your form; many people are surprised but there is a good form for distance running and nobody has it perfect yet so make sure to keep working on your form. Good luck! :)

J K- is 21-23 minutes a good time for cross country? I would like to make varsity, but ya know if I don't I'm okay with that cause I'm only a freshman lol.

21 minutes is really good for a freshman! It depends where you live and how many people go out for cross country if you want to make varsity but yes, your time sound very good! And trust me once you start practicing with your team you will get better and better; just enjoy it, the season goes by so fast!

Ok I know I'm getting a little out of hand but...I love cross country and there's so many aspects! So hopefully this is my last post! ;)
Stretching before and after you run is really key to avoiding injury. Doing ab workouts is a great way to build muscle and help with running-core is key! Make sure you get iron- iron deficiency is really common with long distance female runners. And make sure that you keep trying to get longer mileage at faster times-longer distances help build endurance and really help on race day! Chocolate milk tastes really good after running but even better it is good for your muscles! Load up on carbs like pasta for dinner the night before a race. And if you ever get really sore or if you want refreshed muscles for a race the next day, take an ice bath. Turn the water in the tub as cold as it will go and if you have I've dump some in. Stay in for fifteen minutes and when you get out make sure you heat your legs back up- wrap them in a blanket. It also helps tight muscles if you take a rolling pin and rolling your muscle out (I know it sounds weird but it helps) hope this all helps you :)

Lol J K, I NEED YOUR HELP AGAIN haha if you see this again(: but is junior varsity a shorter distance than varsity or is it just the "b team"?

J K.
JV still goes the difference, it's just that even with amazing times there can only be a few varsity so the rest is a larger more diverse group, aka JV. :)

Okay J K! I looked up my states state race records for last year and the fastest time was 19:20 for girls 😱 and the last time was 30:07 so I may be able to get into state! Yayyy I'm excited for practice though to 1. Meet my team and 2. See how good I am (;
