I hear and see alot of people making a big deal about being a mac makeup artist or even working for Mac. I am a freelance makeup artist and like some of mac products, but do not want to just be subject to mac, but curious as to why a lot of people say its their dream job working behind the counter for mac.

I think the main thing for newer makeup artists is getting the chance to do makeup on all sorts of faces, and to learn specific details about a lot of makeup products. Also MAC is one of the most popular high end brands so it sounds fancy to be a 'MAC make up artist'. I definently think free lance and big projects seem more creative and expansive than working at a MAC store. I agree with you, I don't get the huge hooplah but I think it's good for newer makeup artists to get the gist of it.
