Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone else has the moral preference to use vegan products?
There are certain products I strictly don't use because I know that they have been tested on animals or the company that is owning them does.
I am not preaching or saying you're bad if you have the preference to use them, so please don't misunderstand me.
I was just wondering if there are people who want to swap tips and product information that are vegan.

I've been kind of struggling with this. I love animals & don't support animal testing. But I buy from brands that do animal testing. Mostly because when I'm shopping, I don't think about like "oh this brand tests on animals, and this one doesn't" I just buy what I like, then think about it after. I'm torn. :/

I'm totally in the same boat as Amanda V... I don't support animal testing, but not buying certain products is going to inconvenience me more than it is the companies.

Wet and wild and nyx don't test on animals. but being vegan I'm more conscious of it. and also your brushes! it's crazy how many things have squirrel hair and such

I used to be really ignorant to the issue until I decided to be a vegetarian two years ago. I use Nude by Nature products and they are really good mineral products that are cruelty free.
It feels so good to know you're doing the right thing.
Ruby C, what brand are your brushes? I need to look further into this. thanks!

The body shop does not test on animals I believe and they also sell makeup along with body and skin products I ditched bath and body works for this line and also lush too very natural and they too do cosmetics and bath and body stuff. Their eyeliner are amazeballz

Yeah, I'm a vegan, and it's really tough, but to me thinking of animal torture is a good enough reason for the trouble. Sometimes I'll randomly start crying when I pass the meat section. I know stupid, but I do really care. Some brands that don't test on animals are:

Yea I just checked my beautifying oil and they are pet testing free so cosmetic should be good. And yes lush is amazing going to treat myself a blush bath once I'm done with finals.

I never buy from any company that does any animal testing. It is not worth it at all and I'd feel like such a bad person if I did. I always go for vegan make up when I can as well but sadly most vegan make up products I have to order online. I'm a dietary vegan but I've been getting closer to switching my closet and other items to vegan as well. I can't believe how badly people take advantage of animals. It's so sad. I get upset over it often. I wish everyone would care as much as I do.

Oh and because you mentioned it Melissa, I do buy from cruelty free companies that are owned by not cruelty free companies. I feel like by buying from them I kind of tell the company "Hey I like that this is cruelty free and you should have more of this".

The body shop is 100% against animal testing (they actually have papers in their stores about signing animal rights petitions) I buy ALL my skincare products from there and always will.

Melissa B; I bought mine from eco tools. I recently found out that my bare ecentuals brushes were animal hair but they are no kill. they give the animals a haircut and that's all. its worth checking into.
And Amanda? I understand you're very passionate but is so offputting to talk to people like that. there's a reason people think vegans and vegetarians are snobby-because they act like it. it's important to note that many people wouldn't even think about where their makeup comes from. just like meat comes prepackaged and ready to cook; so does make up. Tell someone that the mascara they've been using since they were 12 is the product of an evil company and you'll get apprehension. Not only that, it's not an easy transition. I can't afford to buy super expensive "everything free" makeup. and the ones that don't test on animals are either crappy or expensive. I took the crappy route and decided to deal-but unless people are informed and encouraged, not discouraged, they won't care.

I'm aware of this side of cosmetics but I'm kinda with Amanda V. and Ruby C. on this one. I won't go checking everything I buy but if I end up realizing its tested on animals I'll discontinue purchasing.

I am from Australia so that means that cruelty free products are even more expensive because the prices of any kind of makeup here is actually insane. But Its all worth it in the end :)

Thats my point; I can't afford good quality vegan makeup or I would... The stuff thats cheap enough isnt better quality than things I can afford, and thats just the way it is.

Some really fantastic brands are Wet n Wild, NYX, Urban Decay, Tarte, Physicians Formula, Hard Candy, Kat Von D, NARS (correct me if I'm wrong), Milani, Stila... the list could go on and on! I only buy cruelty free makeup now (I still use my products that aren't cruelty free simply because I view it as a waste of money to throw over half my collection away) and it's actually not as difficult as I thought it would be. Sure, some research has to be put into it, but there's plenty of apps and lists out there. If you aren't sure about a company you could always google "is ______ cruelty free?" and go from there. If not, I always encourage emailing the company directly about their stance on animal testing! I don't think it's right to shame anyone for the products they choose though. That's what makes people think that vegetarians and vegans are huge snobs and only makes people tune out when we try to talk about animal testing. Since I went vegetarian (now vegan although I did have an oopsy daisy moment yesterday! :/) I simply began recommending cruelty free products to my mom and making her aware of how prominent animal testing is in the cosmetic industry and now she buys mostly cruelty free products. It's all about informing people, not about shaming them.
