I am a natural brunette , but I have been blonde and everything inbetween; well I just recently dyed my hair black because I always thought dark brown was never dark enough.. but I found out black is too dark! I need help. I don't want to keep damaging it so do y'all have any tips on how to lighten it up a bit and make it fade into a brownish color that's not so harsh? or make up tips I could use to make it look more acceptable and not so "goth" because I'm a very girly girl and this just isn't for me.

It doesn't look goth. It looks good but if you just wash it everyday it will probably fade out a bit. Mine always fades some.

Do you think "sun-in" would help any?

You could do a soap cap but only for a minute or so.

Definitely. Here's another girl who used it.

It looks nice but since you died it black the only thing that will lift black is bleach. I'm a hair dresser.

Your hair is gorgeous! With how you've applied your makeup you DO NOT look goth at all! But do not use blonde to lighten your hair, some blacks have red undertones resulting in an orange brassy color and some have blue undertones resulting in purple or green shade variants. Trust me, high school was very colourful for me (however at that time I didn't care what my hair looked like lol) as the blonde, even though not bleach is damaging. If you truely don't like your color and are worried about the condition if your hair, grab sunlight dish soap and smother your hair in it. It has moisturizers as well as lemon juice in it. Leave in in for a long time an hour to 3 depending on how thick your hair is. Then wash and follow with a deep conditioning. If that doesn't help (dish soap only really works the sooner you use it) I'd suggest going to a salon. They are able to lighten it up a few shades and add foils to give it a more natural look. Good luck!
