Do you use an eyeshadow base? If not, try that...it'll make the colors appear more vibrant. And a smoky eye typically has a gradient of light to dark- try using a light blue or even white or silver shadow on the inner corner then a blue on your lid, and blend that into a darker blue or black/brown.

Agree :) use an eyeshadow base to create a smooth foundation to build the shadow on. :) try NYX's! It's cheap and works well. :)
