An easy one that I did last year was:
I painted some red blood coloured polish onto a cheap sponge. I dabbed the red onto the edge of my nail & lightly blended up (like if you're doing gradient nails). I then painted over with a topcoat & it looked like my nails were all bloody. it actually looked really cool :p
to add extra effect, you can buy those cheap acrylic sets they sell at drug stores & put those on your nails, then get nail clippers & make them look like they're all chipped & broken.
I actually think Cutepolish has a tutorial of this on her YouTube channel, or something very similar.
