I am in the process of transitioning from relaxed hair to natural and I'm trying to avoid the BC for a few more inches. My relaxed hair was already cut short though so my hair is at a really awkward length. Any suggestions for styles??

I personally can't do weaves or braids but have you tried any protective styles like a sew in or braids until you can grow it out or is that not an option for you.?..

It's a long process after a year I chopped mines off.

I currently have locs. I opted to do the big chop because I didn't want to deal with the shedding and other issues that come with transitioning. I agree with Maryam twist outs will help. Maryam I have a question for you are you Muslim? My boyfriend is and I need some suggestions and pointers on some things that's why I'm asking.

I've been wearing weave for the last month. I clip my ends when I take it down. I'm a little nervous about braids because the last time I had micro braids a lot of my hair fell out. I had bald spots. I'm thinking of trying the box braids though but I'm still worried about excess breakage.

@Maryam no problem. This is my email smm52873@gmail.com. Thank you.

Honestly you should stay away from weave braids like you said they will give you a lot of breakage, you hair is very fragile right now and those braids are a little harsh

I say keep it sectioned because it can get really hard to deal with it all out, wash it in sections.

Thanks Sevetria. I have no idea what it means and when I google it I'm the only result so I guess that's a good thing lol. @Maryam I'm addicted to Youtube lol. I'm just getting a little frustrated because there aren't many tips or styles for hair as short as mine.

What's the length of your hair katrieka?. shorter hair can actually work better..
I grew mine out with lots of deep condioner n time. it was a long time ago and I had more times n those days. I made up braided roller sets. its kinda like what they do now as twist out. I'd braid about the same amount of hair n put a rod on the end. let out dry n wear that for a few days at a time. my hair was really long then tho.
my bc was to my shoulders and I had some relaxed hair left on.. but it didn't break..
the key is you can't comb thru it everyday. eitherway you're going to get fallout, with a weave or not.. that weak hair has to fall off, it has no choice.

I'm at about 8 inches from crown to front and about 5 inches in the back but thats including my relaxed hair. I know that doesn't seem like a lot to worry about but I've cut my hair before and with my facial features and the size of my head I look like a guy lol.
