I think it looks great!(: you think try to match your foundation color with your neck! (It might be the flash though) and also make the dimensions of the colors on your lid show more from light to dark!

I taught myself.. n my specialty is brown skin girls natural makeup n Smokey eye. ;-)
which foundation are you using?. I agree that the Colors look different and I'm sure its the flash but that shouldn't b.. (how can you take fab pics when you go out if you gone look two toned on them!?). from my experience, I stay away from all products that have talc n them. I used a lot of tinted moisturizer (now everyone is making bb cream so that's an option). the key is that the light needs to b able be able to go thru the makeup and bounce back your natural color.
if talc is in it, it bounces back with a white shadow..
as far as Smokey eye. it takes a lot of practice. but that's no prob. just rem to blend blend blend. and that dark fades into light.. it should look like a semi controlled puff of smoke..
