In the lighting, it's difficult to see the color, but your complexion could easily rock any pin up/retro red. :)

You're a perfect candidate! Steer clear of the plums and rock a blue-based red. If you want to ease into it, Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain comes in a few shades of red..including a cherry, ruby and garnet. They are long wearing and have buildable coverage. I'd also invest in a MAC or NYX red liner or two. They prevent color bleeding and are excellent for filling in and getting a full lip. After I apply, I place my index finger between my lips to remove excess..then gently powder the very outline. A very light spritz of Urban Decay's "Dew Me" works wonders for extending lip color..regardless of the brand. Good luck! ;)

The color looks lovely. I'd focus on application technique..creating a nice clean line..Cupid's bow, etc. YouTube has some great tutorials on getting a perfect red pout.
