I like, maybe I would use other very deep colors too ( green, red, purple) not just black, but I'm this style is new to me, I've seen just few performs:-)

Very good, but focus on more yellow, since marigolds are the holiday's official flower [so to speak]. I have also seen many people incorporate bright primary colors in their looks [especially red] in Mexico.

You could also add sequins or little rhinestones for color if you want. I think you did well though, especially for your first time.
