I'm wanting to get acrylic nails put on as mine are really short and I feel like I have man hands LOL! My friends say not to as they really damage your nail beds and it takes ages for your nails to recover I was just wanting people opinions and experience before I definitely got my nails done. Thanks x

It depends where you get them done tbh! I went to a trained person at there home and it damaged my nails very very badly all my nail was peeling and chipped but when I went to a professional nail shop my nails weren't as damaged and they lasted a great amount of time! So go to a shop:)

They get damaged pretty bad... After I took mine off, my nails were paper thin and super delicate. It felt weird to do things because I was worried my real nail would break off. When I had them on they also got in the way of everything. Short nails are cute and strong!

They file your entire nail so when you so take them off there's a dent that you have to grow out & painting them isn't very pretty until they grow out again. I get mine done since they're brittle and short and I have a bad problem with biting them. the only thing that's bad about having them is the cost. you've have to get then filled every 2 weeks and taken off with a new set like every month. I think its worth it though since they almost always look nice. just try not to get them wet a lot because that will encourage lifting and if a nail lifts too much it will can be painful but getting it fixed its fairly cheap.

To make nails porous sometimes filing your nails is required. Also anything you put on your nails will damage them as no air/sun light is getting to them. If you want it get it, nails grow. Not going to be a permanent problem also remember to take a week out between acrylics so you can give your nails a slight break

Honestly it makes your nails really thin and soft, and sometimes when your nails grow to a nice length underneath, when you take them off they rip the top off :( x

I got my nails done on May & I took them off like on the first week of August. Needless to say I'm still waiting for them to recover.

I got mine done in May for prom and took them off like a week later. They just got back to normal in about August maybe. I don't think I'm ever going to get them again because in my opinion they weren't worth it and I can't have them for work anyways lol.

They're really pretty on but they're just not worth the damage. They leave your nails paper thin like all of tees ladies have said, not to mention how hard it is to get them off. You can save a good bit of money & keep your nails healthy by painting your own :) gel nail color is also a great alternative!

I love acrylics. have them right now. when I take mine off, I wait until the have grown half way and then gently take them off. all that really happens to me is that I have to cut them. you can file your nail to if it has the indent in it and then put a growth nail polish over.
