@ miiso you think I have to bleach first?
Oct 25, 2013
MakeupByMiiso X.
No don't bleach!! I know you can't see my hair but I have put it through so much shishi because of bleach avoid bleach!! I went blonde and then red, I literaly had to redye my hair every week because the colour wouldn't hold. Avoid bleaching your hair. Not worth ittt. A proffesional will beable to get your hair lighter, even if they have to do it in stages xx sorry I'm ranting

You can add highlights or something. If you want to go lighter, do developer only (like 30 vol) it's less harsh than bleach. I've done it before. It will lift the hair to a light brown not so much blonde

Not sure about ash, I think it can make you look older... I vote for a warm beige dark blonde/ light chestnut.

@ diana Lol I don't mind looking older since everyone thinks I'm 17 and I'm 21.

You ladies think I can get it lighter by just buying the hair dye let's say a light brown with a 30 developer? I don't want to go the salon since I always come out mad because it wasn't the color I wanted.

I personally think ashy light brown will deff not make you look older, I think it would look firstly more unique since now days everybody has warm blonds and brows and you would suit ashy brown. Secondly will really suit your face and hair style. And like symone said the smaller the volume the less the developer will damage your hair

Nice n easy does some nice colours, I don't know wether you are in the uk or not I'm sure USA has places focused on hair care, but sallys here in the uk will have in incredible range of colours to choose from. But yeah whenever I used to go to salons I would come out annoyed too lol. X.

Deffo go to sallys take your time picking a colour, they should help you out there aswell to choose developer and stuff. You might have to do it in two stages to go lighter, depending on how stubborn your hair is lol, mine is. Whatever you do don't use bleach! Good luck beautiful x

And btw, the proper professional hair dyes are less likely to damage your hair then drugstore boxsets, so if you have a sallys or something similar deff go

The only thing that will lighten color is lightner/bleach the main thing in hair color theory is that color will not lift color. If you try to lighten your colored hair without lightner you will not get your desired results.

@ symone so I just put the 30 developer all around and leave it like a dye?
Oct 25, 2013
Kalyn S.
Yes I know it's 20 volume or higher that get a lifting action and you use less than 20 with semi or demi because no lifting is needed, but to go from a red to an ash I believe that a lightner will be needed to create such s dramatic change. Especially with red because it is such a hard color to remove. You're hair is beautiful by the way!

Miiso, I wouldn't say that everyone wear warm blondes, and browns are warm by default. But Gabby has brown eyes and I guess that she has a warm skin undertone, and considering it for choosing blonde is very important ( from my experience). But if you, Gabby have cold undertone, then if course go to ash tint.:-)

@Gabby, yes. More like you would bleach though. It's not as fast as bleach but you just have to watch it. It will take a while since it's not as strong. Also, make sure you neutralize your hair with a neutralizing shampoo or conditioner right after. Or your hair will fall out. When I did it, I didn't know until my hairdresser mom told me after I dried it. Then I couldn't run to the store so I used lemon juice (which sinks so much and I had a time getting the smell out lol)
