Google "Rockabilly" and a ton of retro styles should come up. The movie "Grease" has some great looks as well...or "Crybaby".

Think headscarves...bandanas...plaid and gingham...cute, soft, solid cardigans with round buttons...scoop neck and off shoulder tees as well as high cuffed jeans, loafers or ballet flats. The skirts were either very full..or pencil skirts.
