2 coats and I just wash it off with water when I wash my face (I wash my face very often cuz I'm reeeeally oily) and then I go on with a q-tip.

I do one coat, curl, then another coat. The only 100% effective way to remove mascara completely is to cry (jk try Ponds Cold Cream).

I do about 4 coats on a drier formula and about 2 for wet formulas. Dry formulas weigh down less so it's easier to build and it's more dramatic. Wet formulas tend to weigh down more so I use less. I use olive oil to remove it just because it helps condition my lashes beautifully.

I take the tip of the wand which has all the mascara product and sort of piece that through my lashes then turn the brush to the side as you would think to normally use it and stroke it upward, applying more but also sort of spreading de-clumping the initial mascara I deposited on my lashes. I take all my makeup off with apricot oil on a cotton ball.
