I use colour treatment shampoo & I only wash my hair 1-2 times a week a few weeks after getting it done but it still washes out almost to the point that it doesn't even look like the same colour (ex, black faded to dark brown).. ant tips/tricks I can try this time around?

Try dying your hair brown first and then red.

Wash your hair with cold water and don't use shampoo unless it's sulfate free.

Yeah, under the bathroom sink lool. What I do is I use a shower cap in the shower, get out put my pj's on so if cold water accidently splashes on me I won't feel it, and then rinse it w. the cold water & conditioner c:

Your hair is going to fade with red no matter what. you can make it last a little longer with what janet said. and the colr safe shampoo. you can also get some semi permanent red to mix in your conditioner. black also tends to fade a lot. but that could also be because you are blonde and need a filler before doing these. but with red and black your hair isnt going to stay as vibrant as when you first got it for more then a month or 2.
the reason blonde stays is because blonde can't fade out. blonde takes pigment out of your hair... it doesn't add pigment like other colors

Well, blonde can't fade. When you're dying it blonde you're not adding blonde pigment you are taking away pigment itself.
As for red, red is one if the hardest colours to sustain, and if you're blonde you're going to need a filler first. A filler is basically dying your hair the colour you want it to fade into, I'd suggest either a burgundy or bright red, I guess either is going to turn out quite light on you. After that you can dye it whatever colour you'd like, and it'll stay longer and won't seem to fade as fast because the contrast won't be so different.
As for maintaining red hair, there's a few things I do that help a lot.
•avoid heat - hot showers and straighteners just dull your colour and fade it quicker, I shower it cool water about pool temperature.
•Water in general, if you're in the shower only hold your head under the shower for as long as necessary, no longer.
•I like to get colour depositing shampoos, or mixing temporary dye into my conditioner, which gives it a good pop when my hair feels dull or faded.
