Sharpening Eyeliner Properly?

I can't be the only one with this problem...I hope...Anyway, just wondering,is there some sort of trick into sharpening eyeliner properly so that the tip doesn't fall off and I'm left with a hollow tip and a messy eyeliner-shavings-filled sharpener? Every time I try to have a sharper tip or even just a blunt one, no matter how careful I am,the pencil tip slides off since its too soft and I'm left re-sharpening it until my brand new pencil is practically a stub already...

I chill mine in freezer for a few minutes then sharpen.

Katherine you aren't alone! I ALWAYS have that problem. I've actually stopped buying pencil eyeliners for that very reason. But I'll try the freezer think :)
