If its for prescription glasses the person fitting you will be the best person to help you pick out a great pair as they are trained in regards to face shape and the frames best suited for each one.

Semi-thick square/rectangle shaped frames,
I personally don't like huge frames like nerd frames, but it's up to you what you decide.

Rectangular frames look great on most people :) try heaps on, you'll know when you've found the right ones :) although I love big 'nerd' glasses, I would never get them because they give you the illusion of having massive eyes then if you decide to wear contacts or get smaller frames, people will think you look weird :/ lol.
