What's the difference? They look exactly the same to me, but it seems white gold is always more expensive. Will white gold last longer than silver?

White gold is an alloy of gold and other white metals, palladium for example. Sterling silver is a bit more gray and a much softer metal. Therefore, white gold is better suited for jewelry such as wedding and engagement rings but looks similar to silver. I hope this helps :)

They both have good and bad points. I think silver is more grey than white gold. Silver is harder than white gold so may last longer in the way that it won't scratch as easily, but white gold is softer which makes it easier for jewelers for work with, more delicate pieces can be made from it. Silver tarnishes over time and will go darker if not black if you don't polish it with proper silvet polish regularly, its the oils from your skin, perfume and moisturisers that cause it to tarnish quicker but there is no way to stop in from tarnishing as even just been left in the open air it will tarnish. White gold is just more valuable because it has gold in it, and I don't think it tarnishes at all.

I feel as if it depends on your skin tone. If you have a more olive tone or yellow undertones, go with gold. But if you have blue undertones or a more white completion, go with silver. I don't know if this goes with what everyone is talking about but I tried. Haha.

Silver does tarnish but white gold my need replating over time as it will lose its shine and turn a duller gray.
