So my sister has a lot of acne scars, and I do mean a lot. She suffered from a lot of acne and her skin is very sensitive. I've been thinking of gifting her laser skin treatments for acne. A girl at my job got it and her skin looks amazing! But I want to know other people's experiences. Please share everything you know from personal experience or if someone you know got it.

I've seen the procedure done on a young woman who was in for her final treatment. She deeply pitted scarring along her jawline and the doc conducting the procedure said its not a cure all but it definitely did some fading of the affected area but with the naked eye you could still see the scars but they weren't as intense as before she had the procedure. Depending on how deep the scarring is determines the level of success with laser treatment. Not seeing a pic of your sis its kinda hard to judge on whether it would be beneficial for her or not. I suggest trying topical methods first before laying down the cash for laser procedure. Glycolic/AHA serums are wonderful at scar removal. 10% is a great percentage to start at and go as high as 20% percent. It requires patience as one can't expect results overnight. 3-6 months with use 3x's a week one should notice serious change. 6-12 months...you will go WOW. Not all does it address the scarring but it will also take care of the pores by constant recycling out the bad stuff that causes acne/blackheads. Clean pores will translate to eyes as tightened pores while pores filled with junk appear as enlarged. So if she has large pores this stuff will mimimize its appearance. Combine it with the use of a vitamin C serum for daytime use under her moisturizer will just accelerate positive results as vitamin c also works at fading spots. Whether she goes topical or laser I cannot stress the importance of using a daily spf moisturizing face lotion because without it any positive results she is trying to maintain will go right out the window as the sun will only darken the affected areas and then she's right back at square one again.

Diana...10% is fine and its actually the standard percentage that is on the market. 3% is so small that it would take longer than 12 months to see any noticable results. I rotate between 10% & 17% and my skin is just fine. Its not something to be used everyday though (too much of good thing isn't good for you). I was told last year by my dermo that I could go 20% if I'd like but I'm not having any issues as of yet with my skin. 3% is a percentage amount infused in some treatment moisturizers though but its so diluted and sits at the bottom of the ingredients list that it almost seems pointless.

Diana...you should try it. Especially if your skin can't handle manual exfoliation (scrubs and Clarisonic). I just apply a small amount at night, wait a few minutes and then apply a light non-active moisturizer and I wake up with glowy, smooth as a baby bottoms skin. :)

I,ve bought a week ago a night cream with aha to fight miliums, and the effect is already noticeable. Skin is less oily and my chin is clear of blackheads, bur I,m thinking about a peeling with them too, just need to pick one because in my country we don,t have a lot of brands which could be founded in USA.

I agree with Shelley 100 percent laser does offer a better faster result however that depends on the depth if your scarring,if you just have surface hyperpigmentation then Aha,retinol and vitamin c will help clear those up tremendously,if you have deep pits then you may have to go with laser or fillers to flatten the skin's surface out and even then they still my be slightly visable so just take your sister to the derm and I'm sure they will recommend the best course of action.

Don't do it at a doctors office!! Do it at a dermatology office.

I know my sister suffered from acne and she did some laser treatment. she got it done at a dermatology office. After the treatment she was advised not to go out in the skin etc. The skin starts to peel slowly and along with that her acne had reduced significantly. The procedures could be costly some insurances cover and some don't. ask about a package like do 3 and get 4th free

I am currently getting fractional lasering as well as intense pulse light (IPL) treatments for my acne scars and pigmentation. My skin is also very, very sensitive. When going to get any work on your face ALWAYS go to a dermatologist. While aestheticians are generally less expensive, if something was to happen during the treatment such as burning of the skin they would not know how to fix it. Also, laser treatment is very expensive. I am getting a total of 5 treatments done and it costs approximately $3500. My dermatologist told me it does take time to see results. Most of my scarring is located on my cheeks. I have currently had 4/5 sessions done and I go for my last session in 8 weeks. It is a painful process, but I have just begun to see results (you won't start to see them until the 2nd treatment). The pigmentation is getting a lot better and the scarring looks like it starting to fill in. I am hoping to continue seeing results in the next few months.
