is sleeping with your mascara on bad for your eyes or do people make it seem worse than it is?

It is bad!

Its bad, make sure you completely remove all of your makeup before bed every night. Otherwise you will definitely be sleeping with bacteria that will indeed build up & may cause infections. And leaving mascara on will flake, get into your eye, causing eye irritation leading to possible infections.

I had blepharitis a few years ago, likely from not removing my mascara properly. Google it, it's not attractive!

I never take my mascara off.. Never have! Nothing has happened to my eyes; not even a stye! I think it's a personal thing how it'll effect you. Best not to try it though, since it can have some bad outcomes haha

No! It can get clumped in the corner of your eye and in your eye take it off!

Personally, I ALWAYS take off mascara.. It's really bad for you, think about all that goo you get inside your tear duct during the night, and when you sleep with mascara or any other kind of eye make up, they may blend up together.
This will definitely put you at a higher risk of getting an eye infection (I had a few in the past). It might also irritate your eyes a lot generally.
I have by accident fallen asleep with mascara a few times, and I notice how I always lose twice as many lashes when I remove it the next day, I think that is really depressing, I hate losing long, pretty lashes.

Do you not eventually get incredibly clumpy spider leg lashes when you don't ever take off your mascara? Oh my.
I've sometimes slept with it on, but not like... all of it. I'll remove my eye makeup and sometimes I can't be bothered to remove it completely so there are bits here and there, but that's it. It's not a thing I do very often.

Mascara will dry out your lashes if left on for too long, it's similar to the hair on your head. You've gotta wash it off and let the hair breathe! Hope this helps!:)
