Okay, bear with me for this explanation, its going to be long.
First: trim all of your dead ends; nothing you can do will put them back together and they will just keep splitting up the shaft if you don't cut them.
Second: invest in a good sulfate free and sodium chloride free shampoo and conditioner. I like L'oreal EverStrong. It smells nice, works well, makes my hair feel clean. Also get a good deep conditioner or hair mask, my favorites for those are Aussie 3 Minute Miracle and Macadamia's Deep Repair Masque.
Third: in the shower, wash your hair first thing. Only shampoo the roots of your hair, and condition anything from the ears down. After that, apply your deep conditioner mostly to the ends and minimally to the rest of your hair. Finger comb out any tangles you feel, and then put your hair up in a bun and leave it there until the end of your shower. Rinse it out with COLD water, very last thing you do.
Fourth: try not to heat style, but if you must, use a protector like Tressemme Heat Tamer or John Freida Full Repair Spray. Also, try not to brush your hair as much, but if you have to do that, do it while your hair is DRY. Wet hair is at its weakest and brushing it then could weaken it. That's about all I do for my hair, good luck :)
