Hi Ladies!
I know that shampooing hair too often can make hair dry and brittle.
But how often in a week is it best to wash your hair? Do you guys oil your hair often too? Before every wash or once a week?
Any recommendations would help.
I have been experiencing a lot of hair fall suddenly & my hair's gotten a bit frizzy. John Freida and Tsubaki (Japanese brand) products did help a bit.
Thanks!

Well it depends. since I have curly hair, I shampoo once a week and since my hair tends to be dry so I apply a little amount of oil to my hair everyday. what is your hair type?

I'm a natural kinky/curly haired girl soooo yeah...I wash my hair with shampoo once every week or every other week all depending on what's gone in it. I normally co wash my hair (washing with conditioner) once a week no matter what though and deep condition and prepoo my hair every time I do both of these things.

I moisturize and seal my hair two to three times a week which involves a thicker moisturizer (my hair doesn't like thin stuff) and an oil of choice to seal in the moisture. When I prepoo (pre-shampoo treatment) I normally do an oil mix of some kind to sit in my hair before washing it. If I'm just co washing I put oil in my hair, put on a shower cap for 30 minutes, take it off and detangle and then Cowash.

I also use all sulphate free products as they're better for your hair and less damaging.

But what you do to your hair all depends on your hair type and what it likes.

My hair doesn't get greasy until day 5 so unless I decide to roll around in the mud or get myself in cigarette smoke I wash it once a week. Sometimes twice in the summertime.

I don't use oil but the Mane N Tail conditioner doubles as a leave in. So every time I wash I put a quarter size amount on my ends and middle parts of my hair. And every two weeks I substitute the conditioner for a deep conditioning treatment that I leave in for 15 minutes then wash out.

Sorry guys, forgot to add my hair type & other details. I have medium length fine hair, which is straight at the top and tends to get wavy from mid length. Uptil now my hair texture was soft but my hair gets greasy by the 4th day, so I tend to wash my hair every 3rd day.
I also tend to leave the shampoo and conditioner on for atleast 3 mins before washing it away. (Not sure if that is good)

@Erin & Allie - Thanks girls! That was really detailed. Maybe I should consider a pre-shampoo or deep conditioning treatment routine.

I feel you should use a leave in conditioner on the ends of you hair. Also use almond and rosemary oil on the ends, you won't get split ends, it won't.repair them.but will surely prevent it further.
