What do you think Christmas is really about? Today, Christmas is a profit-making holiday. It has turned into a plastic holiday where we put up our plastic tree and our plastic decorations. Buy plastic toys with our plastic money. It's a very plastic society. Every commercial tells you that Christmas is about buying presents and you'll have a miserable holiday if you don't buy things. Christmas, I think, is about giving. Give your love and compassion, not plastic junk made in sweat shops or labour camps. Give your old items away to someone who needs them more than you. Go do something nice for someone less fortunate than you. If you have an expensive phone and a full wardrobe, a car, food, and clean water, please don't complain or worry about what presents you're getting. I put this under beauty because inner beauty is what matters. Merry Christmas loves.

I feel the true meaning of Christmas had been lost, it has nothing to do with gifts, it doesn't even mean spending time with family. Christmas is about one thing and that's the birth of Jesus Christ. People have stripped that meaning away to make Christmas not about Christ but about gifts.

I fully agree with Ashley, we don't remember what it's about at all. my family doesn't celebrate with gifts, we go to church and have a nice dinner, that's it. don't get me wrong, I love the happiness around christmas, I just think it has become a bit shallow.

I totally agree with Ashley and Freya. We don't do much on Christmas. We go have a get together with all my cousins and have a nice meal. On Christmas Eve we all have a big family game day, go to church, have my grandparents over for a nicer dinner, and do some other things.

That's so true! Our family we just go to church then meet up and have a big dinner and exchange gifts.

I actually very much disagree. I volunteer with PD so I directly get to see these children that are in foster care that maybe have one pair of shoes a shirt and pants, I have yet to see a charity that gives them something so I do this all year round... I don't need a random holiday to give someone something. Nor have I ever laid foot in church but eh if that makes me an awful person so be it!!

I think Christmas means a lot of things. for me and my family, it's about being together and Christs birthday. For a lot of other people, it's the only time they get clothes or a good meal. I did the shoe box thing this year where you put toys and soap and stuff in a shoe box, then the charity gives it to under privileged kids. They also teach them about Jesus though. Christmas is a lot of things but I think it is most importantly about Jesus and showing someone you care about them and making them feel loved.

Christmas should be about family, love, and giving to others :)

@Kitty K. I totally agree. They should give w/o a holiday but what I'm saying is no one gives. Not on holidays, not any normal day. But you kinda agreed with me. I said people should give, you say people should give. What exactly are you disagreeing with?

@Bryanna your idea of 'no one gives'. Sorry doll I ain't no one and neither are the people who do give without needing an occasion!

A lot of people don't. I know there are people who do though.

If you DO give, why are you getting defensive? If you give, that wasn't for you.

Whether you give or not, Christmas is a good season to give to those less fortunate, it is close to the end of the year, it's just a good time to start new.

I agree with honey!! That is a great way to give Christmas to kids!! My family always goes through the house and finds 50 things each that we can give to the less fortunate! Then we donate them!!

Lucy, that's a great idea!

@Bryanna Because you keep saying NO ONE GIVES. People do give, and it would be nice if you didn't keep referring it as no one gives. If the people you surround yourself with don't give then YOU should change it and not continue to label it as ' no one gives.' People get caught up in their lives and forget that there are others. When I witnessed myself a 12 year old who was abandoned and did need I made sure everyone around me knew about it... And guess what? They all GAVE. Its not so much 'no one gives' if you don't do anything about it and just complain... All it takes is to speak up about it, and the worse that can happen is that they say no.
Those are my two cents, whether it's offensive or not... not sorry because it is simply the truth and what I believe.
Happy holidays and Stay safe!

I agree with all of you! It now means multiple things, it's very much commercialised and plasticised.

Also, I'm very surprised this thread hasn't been deleted...

I agree with Morena! Sorry for saying, I don't want to offend anyone, but I think most people are thibking to much about makeup, clothes, presents and especially food!
All if those are great and good at Christmas, but not what's it all about.

Merry Christmas everyone, and I hope your light may be shining! (:

XOXO

Thank you for those who got what I was actually trying to get at instead of taking things out of context. I hope all of you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year :) xoxo.
