So my sister has naturally curly hair, but it always turns out in this frizzy poofy ball. Her hair is very thin and brunette. She also isn't very big on putting chemicals in her hair, because awhile ago she had an accident that made a lot of her hair fall out. are there any natural ways to make her curls more defined?

First off, I really don't like the word poofy. Try Shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie, I love it!! Also try more moisture like deep conditioning more, and leave in conditioners! A very awesome leave in is the Cantu Shea butter leave in!

That's an awful accident! Chemical treatments not only ruin our curls but does indeed create this poofy frizz thats unmanageable and a big pain in the butt unless you wet your hair :(
I have curly ethnic hair... I am dominican so I know exactly what it's like to deal with hair more than anything. At 9 I was in DR doing these weird ass chemical treatments :( Now no one touches my hair but ME.
Your sister should invest in a satin pillow or satin pillow case. Her hair won't rub against it, and it won't create the static or frizz we get in the mornings.
When she washes her hair, she should only wash out 70% of her conditioner - a tip I learned from john freida. ☺ Shampoo as little as possible, maybe once a week if she has to.
Do all sorts of treatments, I love doing oil treatments. I usually use coconut oil, and castor, and olive oil. I just a dime size amount of shampoo to rinse out the oils and only IF I am straightening my hair or if it is noticeable that I have oils on my curls ( never is, though. ) Lots of these natural oils are antibacterial - I usually just condition. Conditioner has enough soap to wash your hair. Conditioning is a curly haired gals best friend, so she should always be using conditioning treatments.
Avoid serums and products with sulfate. Serums offer temporary relief of frizz, and make it worse in the end. Sulfate in shampoos and conditioners as well contribute to that effect, it's like a diet pill... skinny now... 3 times worse later.
Make sure she does LOTS of strengthening treatments, my hair has grown so much with all the strengthening treatments I've done. The longer our hair is, the more closed it is in shape if that makes sense. ♥♥♥
