So I went shopping today at Mac and it was horrible. They only had one person working at the Mac booth and she was incredibly rude. She acted like she didn't want to help out any customers and she was commenting on people opinions on makeup as if she was better. This happens a lot when I go to a makeup store. It's like they don't believe regular people can do makeup. Anyone else ever have this problem?

I've never been but I would call a manager and tell them how she acted.

I have had experiences like this :/..and honestly I just leave if that is the only person working. But if someone else is working I will usually go to them and they are usually a lot nicer lol. its kind of irritating when the people that are working pay you no attention at all too.

I think in situations like these, it's important for the customer to confront the worker about their attitude/rudeness, and remind them that their job is to be kind, courteous and respectful to the customers and assist them in whatever way they need. Then of course report them to a manager.

I agree with Amanda. I work in retail and sometimes when I'm having a bad day I can loose control of my emotions and come across as snotty or rude. A simple comment about the girls attitude should straighten it out, and if it continues or she is like that on other visits then definetly complain. Yes, my main priority is the customers happiness, so yes I have to be cheerful and smiley but people need to remember that although an employee we are stil human and we have bad days too.

I would call and complain to the manager, I understand how we all have our days buts its our JOB to be nice and courteous to the customers that's why were getting paid amd of course love what you do.

Yes, you'd go call her manager. She's rude and also might make worth of the shop lower by her acting for customer.
Tell her "I'll come back here when another shop staff comes."lol.

Me too! Bit at sephora they were incredibly nice!

I've had this at sephora believe it or not. I don't go to sephora with 10 pounds of makeup sometimes and I don't believe I should so they'll usually ignore me and attend the older and snobbier looking clientele.

Well, I don't shop at Mac. sorry you had that experience! but you should totally let the store know, she is an employee and her customers don't deserve to be treated like that. I go to sephora, and they're almost always nice there!

I have had this situation at Sephora, the lady made it seem like why are you in here mean while she was hideous and was working there. I left because she just pisses me off.

I've had this experience at Sephora too. I was shopping with my fiance, and I asked her opinion about a good gel liner, and she just said "any of them" and walked away. My fiance was so pissed! I still haven't bought anything there because of that incident.

I have this at Ulta a lot. Not Sephora so much. I can't ever recall a time when I've had a Sephora employee be anything but nice. I also don't go to counters much but when I do usually its older ladies working and they're very polite too. Unfortunately this seems to be a common thing in beauty stores :/ I really think some stores need to monitor their employees' customer service skills a lot more closely. If they are being rude and snotty often, they should be let go because they are failing to do a huge part of the job they were hired for.

Hmm I've experienced that with mac also, I personally dislike shopping in mac as they're staff are generally bitchy. Experiences such as this can even put you off a brand I feel, guess companies need to be tougher when recruiting their staff

What Meg said is totay valid. The experience I had at one Ulta put me off them completely. But where I'm living now, if I want to go to an actual store to shop, we only have an Ulta about an hour away. So I went and was DREADING it. I didn't want to deal with any attitude after driving an hour to get there. Luckily I was pleasantly surprised and the staff were so much nicer than the one I went to back home. And I understand that people have bad days. I've worked retail for pretty much every job I've had in life so far. I definitely understand bad days and just not wanting to be at work dealing with people. But you shouldn't let your personal issues or a bad mood affect your job. Keep it to yourself, do your job the best you can and then go home and deal with it. There is no need to bring your personal issues to work. The sales floor/office/set, etc.isn't the place for it. And if it's really that bad, you shouldn't be at work anyway. A huge part of working retail, especially fast-paced retail selling like you'd find around a makeup counter, is working efficiently under pressure. Some people can't handle it unfortunately. But I've gotten so much attitude from employees even when the whole store is empty. It just depends on the person I suppose.
