I am going to school for two semesters for esthetics at a tech school and we got stuck with a teacher that just got her licenses in esthetics two months ago. She has never been a teacher before and she doesn't know what to do. I want and need more education but in georgia there really isn't many places to go. I want to learn about special fx makeup and broaden my knowledge as a makeup artist. What to do? I work at an Aveda salon and was thinking of apprenticing under a stylist to possibly also get a cosmetology licenses but I'm unsure they do that. Should I ask the owner about taking workshops? I'm so frustrated.

I had the exact same problem. Unfortunately, due to lack of options, I had to stick it out til I finished and now I'm researching makeup academies. From my understanding most esthetics programs don't focus much on makeup - I wish I would have known before I wasted my time and money.

I really did want to learn about skin and stuff like that but my teacher is a tarte and really sucks at teaching so I'm not learning anything at all. Really nothing goes over makeup unless it is a makeup academy unfortunately.

You guys should totally go to youtube and start watching makeup tutorials! It helped me a lot! I had the same problem, my teacher was too old school and she didn't teach me anything! So I had to learn by myself! My favorite makeup gurus are vintageortacky, guatemalanhotmama1 and MissChievous ! I hope it helps!

Hey ladies, i also went to esthetics school and I just came to realize 90% of why I learned was how to be sanitary in everything I do, whether it's makeup, waxing, facials, etc. the rest is really up to me to learn from experience, the license helps Bc I have found people appreciate tht you are serious about your craft, and industry but really get your hands and as many people as you can and practice practice practice! I still think it was worth it to get my esthetic license Bc it doesn't limit u to makeup alone, u have potential to market yourself to a broader spectrum
Of clients;)

You don't learn special fx makeup in esthetics, if you want to pursue makeup behind the scenes and specialize you should look into advanced classes, an esthetics license is to give you a good base and understanding of skin/makeup, if you want to focus on something in specific you will need to take additional classes/programs to become more knowledgable in that specific area. Hope this helps!! <3 :)

Thank you!! Does anyone know of a good online makeup academy?? There aren't any in my area and moving isn't an option. I work 88 hours a week plus go to community college so online would be the perfect option. I've been looking into rain makeup academy because they offer online classes and are affordable but it seems too good to be true. Outside of the testimonials on their website I can't find any reviews though. Opinions??

They only teach you the basics. If you want further education, i would suggest you take advance classes for it. You actually start learning right after you get out of school. Trust me on that. You should definitely get a cosmetologist license as well. Just make sure you really want that though. If not, you will be wasting your time and money. Try jobshadowing/apprentices at a salon or something? That way you can get experience! Just remember, practice makes perfect. Good luck! :)

I also live in Georgia, and there are literally NO real programs available for makeup or special fx. I've chosen to attend Joe Blasco's school for special fx in Orlando, FL. Don't know if moving is an option for you but it's the nearest thing.

Esthetics school
Is a good base to start from. You can always gain experience after.Having your esty license is good for your résumé and DOES give you a broader spectrum so stick with it and there are online make up schools if anything..Also the best way to get good at makeup is practice practice practice.Hope this helps!:)))

QC makeup academy not sure if it's good or not. I have not researched it or checked for reviews. Hope this helps.

omgoodness thanks everyone. I only have a 7 more months to go before I graduate the esthetician program. I'm looking at taking an intensive makeup program in florida. I've had a makeup business going for a year or so and clients have been good. I currently am a reception at a spa/salon that is uses/sales aveda products. The are wanting to take me on as an esthetician once I get my license. Then hopefully I can push on to get a makeup certificate then possible move on to cosmetology. :)))

Hello, Brittany. This is a very common problem in present days, because it is difficult to find good teachers in this industry, because they teach in really high-quality educational institutions, and to get there it is necessary to put a lot of effort, as a result of which sometimes you have to use the help of professionals like https://pro-papers.com/assignment-writing-service so I'm very glad that you raised this topic.

Hello everybody. The problem faced by the girl - is very popular nowadays. I had a similar situation at the university: we had a new teacher-trainee who received his license 6 months ago. He had no desire to do his job better. He did not react to our demands to change his approach to our training. We were helped only by a general statement from all the members of the group about the change of the teacher. I understand that your problem may not be solved if teachers do not have enough, but always remember that you can find the best conditions for yourself, if that's what you want. You only have one life!

I have always struggled with my own skin (acne) and therefore have interest in how to take care of it properly and pass my knowledge onto future clients via facials and such. Plus, I think doing treatments like herbal wraps mud wraps will be fun for me. I think I'd really enjoy helping others relax
