I need to wash my brushes but don't have time to let them air dry...would drying them with a hair dryer damage them in any way?

Yes it will, its better to air dry them, how about washing them before bed? they should be dry by the time you wake up in the morning.

Sit them on a towel straight up and down

For the future, try brushing them on a dry towel. The towel will help absorb a lot of the water & will dry VERY fast. =]

If you need to wash your brushes but you also need to use them before they have time to dry completely, try using a brush cleanser. I use MAC's brush cleanser and it dries really fast.

Just wash them at night before you go to sleep! I do that and most of mine are completely dry in the morning. If you really can't wait... maybe you should buy doubles and alternate them? Idk..

If you let the brushes dry overnight and set the head of the brush over the edge of the counter air will circulate and will allow the brush to dry quicker

I spot clean my brushes daily with the japonesque spray ((I got it at ulta)) it dries even faster than the Mac brush cleanser ((though doesn't cleanse as thoroughly)) it's good enough for those of us with no time (= I do take advantage of my occasional free day and deep cleanse though. Another thought - if you have multiples of brushes just cleanse half at time
