Here's a little advice : if it happens that you have a little pimple just apply toothpaste, sleep on it and you' ll see if it doesn't work tell me because it does really work on me :)

I do this all the time! It works sooo well, its great if you have to get rid of a spot fast, even the biggest reddest spot is nearly gone in one night, its great :)

Eeehhh I think it's only okay sometimes. The toothpaste can dry out the pimple, but severly dries the skin around it! If you do it makes sure to moistruize really well.

I've tried this a few times, it didn't do anything for me except give me dry patches.

You could also use eyedrops to decrease the redness :)

This method ends up leaving scars.

Yea I dunno if I wanna risk that. Does it work on sensitive skin?

This method is very hit or miss, and nine times out of ten it does more harm than good. Do not put toothpaste with fluoride or whitening on your skin, because you will end up with a nasty chemical burn that is also photosensitive (reacts to sunlight and gets worse). It can also cause a bad scar, dry scaly skin, and allergic reactions.
Just use a topical acne product and skip the old wives' tales. It isn't worth it.

If you can put it in your mouth and clean your teeth with it then it couldnt be that bad for your skin, I do it nearly everytime I get a spot appearing and its never ever burned or left my skin dry in anyway, maybe everyone is different but I've been doin it years and I've only ever had good results, quite a lot of my friends swear by this aswel

That's not great logic hon. Just because you can eat hot sauce without getting hurt doesn't mean you should slather it on your face. Your skin and your mouth are vastly different organs that react very differently to different substances. While it is great that you haven't had an adverse affect from it, but a LOT of people do. It's a bad idea to tell people that it is some kind of miracle cure without a disclaimer.

I didnt say it was a miracle cure and I didnt tell anybody to do it, someone else made this thread and I just left my opinion and my experience with it, as did everyone else hon :)

What's OP?

Emily is right... this actually irritates your skin. If you want something that dries out a pimple, there are like a bazillion spot treatments meant specifically for skin. The cost of a spot treatment is just as much as toothpaste, not that big of a deal. And something that a lot of dermatologists do not reccommend... lol.

OP is an abbreviation for original poster, the person who started the forum thread.
@Kitty Exactly! e.l.f. sells a "zit zapper" salycylic acid (I think I spelled that wrong, sorry) pen for $1 at most drugstores. Cheaper than toothpaste and does the trick! Even just a teeny tiny dab of plain rubbing alcohol directly on the pimple will dry it out without causing more inflammation. No need to risk an adverse reaction.
